I stumbled upon Andy Goldsworthy’s artwork in a documentary titled, “Rivers and Tides.” Goldsworthy creates his artwork in nature by working instinctively with the medium and becoming part of the landscape. Not only am I drawn to the aesthetic of his work, but I appreciate his intention and philosophy, which is to let the medium, conditions and space speak through his “touch,” thereby integrating the resulting piece into the whole (instead of seeking to have the singular piece dominate the whole).
